Counselling is person centered, and is a way of looking at current, or past issues, goals or situations, and finding new insights, coping skills and focus that offers an opportunity for you to explore your thoughts and feelings in a safe, confidential situation, with someone who is trained neither to judge or advise.
The overall aim of counselling is to provide an opportunity for the client to work towards living in a way they feel is more rewarding or acceptable for them. A clients situation may be a developmental issue, focussing on resolving a specific problem, perhaps making a life changing decision, coping in a crisis, developing personal insight or knowledge, working through feelings of inner conflict or even a relationship issues.
Whatever the problem, or presenting issue, as a counsellor my job is to facilitate your progress in ways which respect your own values, develop your own inner resources and the choices open to you.
At times, especially in the early stages of counselling, this may feel a bit daunting but as you come to understand more about yourself it is hoped that counselling will enable you to become less confused, more focussed, so be more able to make choices, decisions or changes in your life or, even help to come to terms with things that cannot be changed.
I work within the BAC code of ethics.
A Counselling session lasts approx. one hour and costs 40.00 pounds.
